Hospital Tampin ialah sebuah hospital kerajaan di Negeri Sembilan yang dibina di bandar Tampin untuk memberi khidmat kesihatan kepada penduduk daerah ini serta sebahagian kecil masyarakat di Alor Gajah, Melaka. Sejak awal penubuhannya, hospital ini memainkan peranan penting dalam jaringan perubatan negeri.
Menjelang awal 1890-an, Hospital Kuala Pilah dan Hospital Tampin sudah aktif beroperasi, manakala Sri Menanti dan Rembau ketika itu hanya mempunyai dispensari luar. Di Seremban pula, Hospital Bukit Nanas telah dibuka lebih awal sekitar 1889, berfungsi sebagai pusat rawatan bagi kawasan Sungei Ujong, sebelum pentadbiran kesihatan seluruh Negeri Sembilan disatukan di bawah “Residency Surgeon”. Walaupun Hospital Tampin sudah wujud pada era 1890-an, bentuknya masih sederhana – sekadar sebuah wad kecil atau klinik sementara yang dikendalikan oleh pegawai perubatan kolonial atau misi. Kapasiti katil amat terhad, dan perkhidmatan yang ditawarkan hanya meliputi rawatan asas, kecemasan, serta keperluan buruh lombong dan penduduk tempatan.
Pada peringkat awal, hospital ini berfungsi dalam suasana yang serba kekurangan. Rekod kolonial menunjukkan tumpuan utamanya ialah kepada penyediaan kuarters kakitangan, pembekalan makanan serta ubatan, dan penempatan apoteker serta dresser. Aspek pengurusan logistik turut menjadi perhatian, termasuk proses tender bagi bekalan diet pesakit dan kontrak penyelenggaraan fasiliti. Meskipun serba terbatas, Hospital Tampin tetap menjadi nadi perubatan daerah, menandakan permulaan perjalanan panjangnya sebagai salah sebuah institusi kesihatan utama di Negeri Sembilan.
Laporan The Straits Times (30 Mei 1896) turut merekodkan lawatan Residen Negeri Sembilan ke Hospital Tampin bersama Dr. Brazier, Surgeon Daerah, dengan hospital ketika itu dikendalikan oleh seorang Malay dresser. Ini mengesahkan hospital sudah beroperasi pada dekad 1890-an, berfungsi merawat penyakit tropika, menjadi pusat kuarantin kecil, serta menyediakan rawatan kecemasan untuk buruh lombong, pekerja ladang, dan penduduk kampung.
Menjelang tahun 1913, jumlah pesakit dalam di hospital-hospital Negeri Sembilan meningkat kepada 17,054 dengan 1,405 kematian (kadar ≈ 8.23%). Pesakit luar pula mencecah 276,175 orang di seluruh Negeri-Negeri Melayu Bersekutu. Hospital Tampin menerima sedikit tambahan dari segi bangunan dan perkhidmatan anti-malaria, terutamanya untuk menampung keperluan buruh ladang getah. Walaupun begitu, hospital ini masih berfungsi pada tahap daerah asas, sementara kes lebih serius dirujuk ke Hospital Seremban yang mempunyai wad khas untuk pesakit Eropah.
Dalam dekad 1910-an, Tampin muncul sebagai simpul penting ekonomi dan komunikasi dengan pembinaan talian telegraf serta telefon di laluan Tapah Road–Tampin dan Gemas–Tampin. Dari segi perubatan, jaringan ini mempercepat laporan kesihatan, penghantaran ubat-ubatan, serta pemindahan pesakit. Ia menjadikan Hospital Tampin lebih berhubung dengan pusat kesihatan negeri.
Pada tahun 1916, Hospital Tampin digunakan oleh beberapa estet (perladangan) untuk merawat buruh sakit, terutamanya tenaga buruh India. Secara spesifik, 11 estet diberi kebenaran menggunakan Hospital Tampin bagi rawatan pekerja mereka, selain hospital kerajaan lain di Melaka dan Jasin. Beberapa estet lain mengekalkan wad kecil atau sick lines untuk menempatkan pesakit sementara sebelum dirujuk ke hospital daerah seperti Tampin. Hospital ini memainkan peranan penting dalam penjagaan kesihatan buruh estet menangani penyakit biasa dan kecemasan di kawasan perladangan.
Pada tahun 1917, Hospital Tampin berfungsi sebagai sebuah hospital daerah kecil di sempadan Negeri Sembilan dan Melaka, menyediakan rawatan asas kepada masyarakat luar bandar. Ia dikendalikan oleh seorang dresser, iaitu pegawai perubatan bawahan, dengan pengawasan seorang pegawai perubatan kerajaan dari Seremban. Dari segi kesihatan awam, hospital ini terlibat secara tidak langsung dalam menangani wabak swine fever yang dilaporkan berlaku di Tampin pada tahun tersebut. Walaupun penyakit ini khusus menyerang ternakan, hospital memainkan peranan dalam memberi rawatan kepada penduduk yang terdedah, selain bekerjasama dengan Jabatan Veterinar dalam langkah kuarantin.
Penyakit tropika seperti malaria dan beri-beri juga menjadi cabaran utama, dan Hospital Tampin turut menjadi salah satu lokasi percubaan rawatan menggunakan ekstrak rice-polishings yang diperkenalkan oleh Institut Penyelidikan Perubatan. Walaupun kes-kes penyakit berjangkit seperti typhoid, taun dan difteria lebih tertumpu di bandar utama, hospital kecil seperti Tampin tetap perlu melaporkan kes dan menghantar sampel ke makmal di Seremban atau Kuala Lumpur untuk pengesahan.
Daripada petikan Proceedings (sekitar 1917–1918), ada catatan jelas tentang peruntukan kewangan kerajaan kolonial untuk pembinaan infrastruktur dan hospital. Tercatat bahawa terdapat peruntukan khusus di bawah Public Works Department – Special Services bagi penambahan fasiliti hospital di Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah dan Tampin. Ini bermakna Hospital Tampin ketika itu sedang melalui proses pembesaran bagi penambahan bangunan atau wad baharu, atau penambahbaikan, selari dengan keperluan kesihatan awam akibat wabak malaria, beri-beri, serta penyakit berjangkit lain.
Terdapat juga peruntukan $15,000 untuk projek anti-malarial works, yang sangat relevan kerana Seremban pada masa itu terkenal dengan kadar kematian tinggi akibat malaria. Walaupun disebut di Seremban, kerja-kerja pencegahan ini lazimnya meliputi daerah sekitarnya, termasuk Tampin.
Pada tahun 1917, pemasangan tiang telefon dan elektrik di laluan Tapah Road–Tampin dan Gemas–Tampin menandakan usaha memperkukuh komunikasi di Negeri Sembilan. Infrastruktur ini secara tidak langsung memanfaatkan Hospital Tampin dengan memudahkan rujukan pesakit, pengurusan laporan wabak, dan penghantaran bekalan perubatan.
Gemas dan Tampin berkait rapat melalui laluan keretapi dan jaringan perhubungan estet yang wujud pada era kolonial. Hospital Tampin berfungsi sebagai hospital daerah utama bagi buruh estate dan penduduk sekitar Negeri Sembilan, termasuk dari Gemas. Laluan keretapi antara Gemas dan Tampin memudahkan pemindahan pesakit serta penghantaran ubat dan bekalan perubatan ke hospital. Di Gemas, kawasan penempatan buruh India atau “Cooly Lines” berhampiran stesen keretapi menyediakan buruh yang, jika sakit atau memerlukan rawatan khusus, biasanya dirujuk ke Hospital Tampin, kerana wad ladang hanya menampung rawatan sementara. Infrastruktur jalan raya dan keretapi ini menjadikan Hospital Tampin sebagai pusat rawatan utama bagi kawasan hulu dan pinggir estet, serta memudahkan pegawai perubatan menguruskan wabak seperti malaria di kawasan ladang.
Memasuki abad ke-20, Hospital Tampin mencatatkan perkembangan yang mencerminkan cabaran kesihatan awam di kawasan pedalaman Negeri Sembilan. Pada tahun 1900, hospital ini menerima 415 kemasukan pesakit dengan kadar kematian setinggi 7.22%. Lonjakan ini sebahagiannya berpunca daripada kes malaria berulang, di mana enam daripada tiga puluh kematian berpunca daripada demam malaria malignan. Perbandingan dengan tahun-tahun sebelumnya menunjukkan peningkatan yang ketara, kerana pada tahun 1899 kadar kematian adalah lebih rendah dan pada 1901 ia sedikit menurun semula, menandakan usaha awal kawalan penyakit sudah mula berkesan.
Sepanjang tempoh 1901 hingga 1910, jumlah kemasukan pesakit kekal dalam lingkungan 450 hingga 520 orang setahun, manakala kematian pula berlegar antara 25 hingga 32 kes. Kadar kematian berada sekitar 5–7%, hampir sama dengan corak tahun 1900 tetapi dengan sedikit penurunan pada pertengahan dekad. Statistik ini memperlihatkan bahawa walaupun rawatan asas disediakan, beban penyakit berjangkit seperti malaria, disentri, dan penyakit kulit masih menjadi penyumbang utama kadar mortaliti.
Menjelang era 1911 hingga 1920, hospital ini menyaksikan pertambahan kemasukan pesakit, mencecah purata 550 hingga 600 orang setahun. Peningkatan ini menunjukkan pertumbuhan penduduk serta keyakinan masyarakat terhadap perkhidmatan perubatan kolonial. Walaupun jumlah kematian juga meningkat kepada sekitar 35 hingga 40 kes setahun, kadar kematian kekal relatif stabil antara 5.8% hingga 6.5%, mencerminkan adanya sedikit penambahbaikan dalam pengendalian kes klinikal. Perang Dunia Pertama (1914–1918) turut membawa implikasi kepada bekalan ubat-ubatan dan tenaga kerja perubatan, tetapi hospital ini kekal berfungsi sebagai pusat rawatan utama di kawasan Tampin dan daerah berhampiran.
Berdasarkan Annual Report of the Medical Department tahun 1917, Hospital Tampin mencatat sebanyak 3,678 kemasukan pesakit daripada buruh estate dan hospital kerajaan, dengan sebahagian besar pesakit datang dari estate (3,303 orang) dan sebahagian kecil dari hospital kerajaan lain (375 orang). Kadar kemasukan hospital dicatatkan pada 381 per 10,000 buruh, manakala kadar kematian ialah 13.8 per 10,000. Statistik ini menunjukkan bahawa Hospital Tampin pada tahun 1917 berfungsi sebagai pusat rawatan utama bagi buruh estate dan penduduk tempatan, menangani pelbagai penyakit dengan kapasiti yang signifikan di kawasan Negeri Sembilan.
Secara keseluruhan, antara 1900 hingga 1920, Hospital Tampin berkembang daripada sebuah fasiliti kecil dengan kadar kematian yang tinggi kepada institusi perubatan tempatan yang lebih mantap, walaupun masih dibayangi oleh wabak penyakit tropika. Tempoh ini juga menandakan permulaan kepada kajian-kajian kesihatan yang lebih sistematik, sekali gus membuka jalan kepada pembentukan makmal malaria pada penghujung dekad 1940-an.
Lokasinya di laluan kereta api Tampin–Gemas–Seremban menjadikannya strategik untuk pemindahan pesakit dan bekalan. Namun, diskriminasi sosial kekal berlaku: buruh Tamil, Melayu kampung, dan pelombong Cina menerima layanan berbeza berbanding rawatan “kelas pertama” untuk orang Eropah di Seremban. Pada masa yang sama, Hospital Tampin mula memainkan peranan penting dalam pengumpulan data penyakit tropika seperti malaria, cacar, dan penyakit kelamin, bagi tujuan pentadbiran kesihatan kolonial.
Daripada Annual Report of the Medical Dept 1929–1930, Hospital Tampin dikategorikan sebagai salah satu hospital daerah yang menyediakan rawatan indoor dan outdoor. Walaupun laporan ini memfokuskan data keseluruhan bagi Negeri-negeri Melayu Bersekutu, Hospital Tampin berperanan sebagai pusat rawatan utama untuk penyakit berjangkit dan umum di daerahnya, termasuk penyakit kelamin seperti syphilis, gonorrhoea, dan soft sore. Rawatan diberikan oleh pegawai perubatan, pembantu pegawai perubatan, jururawat, dan amah yang terlatih, selaras dengan standard yang ditetapkan oleh klinik di Kuala Lumpur.
Hospital ini memainkan peranan penting dalam menyediakan rawatan mingguan di dispensari di kawasan sekitarnya, termasuk rawatan intravenous injection dan penjagaan rutin bagi pesakit luar. Secara ringkas, Hospital Tampin pada 1929–1930 berfungsi sebagai pusat rawatan daerah yang lengkap, menangani pelbagai penyakit, termasuk penyakit berjangkit dan kelamin, dengan sistem rawatan berstruktur yang melibatkan pegawai terlatih dan program pencegahan.
Hospital Tampin, yang mula beroperasi secara rasmi sebagai hospital daerah pada tahun 1920, mengalami perkembangan pesat dari klinik sementara kepada pusat rawatan lengkap dengan kakitangan tetap dan kemudahan asas. Memasuki dekad 1930-an, fokus Hospital Tampin lebih tertumpu kepada memastikan kelangsungan operasi harian. Rekod pentadbiran memperlihatkan usaha konsisten dalam penyediaan bekalan asas seperti tender kayu api untuk dapur hospital serta kain pembalut bagi kegunaan wad. Walaupun masih sederhana dari segi fasiliti, hospital ini kekal sebagai institusi perubatan asas yang penting, menjadi tempat perlindungan kesihatan utama bagi masyarakat setempat ketika itu. Namun, pada tahun 1930-an, hospital ini terpaksa ditutup akibat kekangan kewangan kerajaan kolonial, kekurangan sumber dan peralatan perubatan, serta bilangan pesakit yang tidak mencukupi untuk menjustifikasi kos operasi.
Kekangan kewangan kerajaan kolonial menyukarkan operasi hospital yang kosnya tinggi, sementara kekurangan sumber dan peralatan perubatan membataskan keberkesanan rawatan. Selain itu, bilangan pesakit tempatan yang dirawat tidak mencukupi untuk menjustifikasi operasi penuh hospital, dan perhatian kerajaan lebih tertumpu kepada hospital bandar utama di Seremban yang dianggap lebih strategik.
Penutupan ini memberi kesan yang ketara kepada penduduk daerah Tampin. Akses kepada rawatan perubatan menjadi terhad, memaksa mereka menempuh jarak lebih jauh ke Seremban, sekaligus meningkatkan risiko kelewatan dalam mendapatkan rawatan. Hospital Seremban pula menanggung beban tambahan dengan jumlah pesakit yang meningkat, mengakibatkan masa menunggu lebih lama dan kemungkinan kualiti rawatan terjejas. Komuniti setempat terpaksa bergantung kepada klinik kecil, jururawat bergerak, atau perubatan tradisional yang menawarkan rawatan kurang menyeluruh, sekali gus menimbulkan ketidakpastian dan tekanan psikologi, terutamanya bagi buruh lombong dan keluarga yang menghadapi kecemasan.
Sebenarnya, berdasarkan rekod sejarah yang ada, Hospital Tampin tidaklah ditutup sepenuhnya, tetapi status dan fungsi hospital sebagai hospital daerah diturunkan atau dikurangkan. Selepas penutupan pada tahun 1930-an, hospital ini tidak lagi beroperasi dengan status penuh sebagai hospital daerah; kapasiti katil dan kemudahan dikurangkan, dan perkhidmatan terhad kepada rawatan asas atau kecemasan sahaja. Sebahagian fungsi rujukan dan pengurusan kesihatan rasmi bagi daerah Tampin dipindahkan ke Hospital Seremban, manakala penduduk tempatan terpaksa bergantung kepada klinik kecil atau pusat kesihatan sementara yang lebih terbatas.
Arkib akhbar kolonial melaporkan bahawa pegawai kerajaan, doktor, dan pegawai kastam kerap berpindah masuk dan keluar dari Tampin. Pergerakan ini mencerminkan status Tampin sebagai pusat pentadbiran daerah yang penting, walaupun ia bukan pusat kesihatan besar. Pegawai perubatan yang bertugas biasanya ditempatkan secara sementara atau mengikut keperluan, menyebabkan hospital bergantung kepada kehadiran pegawai yang berubah-ubah. Pada tahun 1933, Hospital Tampin menghadapi kemungkinan penutupan separa atau sepenuhnya, seperti yang dilaporkan oleh beberapa akhbar tempatan. Menurut The Straits Budget dan The Straits Times (5–7 September 1933), terdapat khabar angin berterusan bahawa hospital akan ditutup secara separa menjelang akhir Disember 1933, di mana pesakit yang mengalami kes serius hanya akan menerima pertolongan cemas di wad penerimaan sebelum dihantar ke hospital lain.
Pada 1933–1934, laporan rasmi kesihatan dan akhbar kolonial menyatakan bahawa wad hospital ditutup, dan hospital hanya mengekalkan seorang pegawai perubatan beserta tiga dressers (pembantu perubatan). Hospital Tampin mengalami fasa pengurangan aktiviti klinikal dan penumpuan kepada fungsi minimal kerana kekangan sumber. Namun, peranan hospital sebagai pusat rujukan tempatan tetap wujud bagi komuniti sekitarnya, dan pergerakan pegawai perubatan serta pegawai kastam menunjukkan kepentingan Tampin dalam jaringan pentadbiran kolonial, walaupun dari segi kesihatan hospital berada dalam fasa “minimal operation”.
Beberapa bulan kemudian, Malaya Tribune (29 November 1933) melaporkan bahawa terdapat khabar angin kuat dari Seremban bahawa Hospital Tampin mungkin ditutup sepenuhnya, meskipun tiada pengumuman rasmi dibuat oleh pihak kerajaan kolonial. Penutupan ini dipercayai berkait dengan dasar pentadbiran dan keperluan penstrukturan semula hospital di kawasan tersebut, menjadikan Hospital Seremban sebagai pusat rujukan utama.
Hospital Tampin telah memainkan peranan penting sepanjang sejarahnya sebagai pusat perubatan strategik di Negeri Sembilan. Semasa pendudukan Jepun (1942–1945), hospital ini berfungsi sebagai pusat rawatan utama bagi tentera Jepun serta penduduk tempatan yang cedera atau sakit akibat perang. Walaupun menghadapi kekurangan bekalan ubat, peralatan, dan sumber perubatan, para petugas tempatan bekerja gigih, menggunakan ubat tradisional dan pengganti tempatan untuk merawat penyakit seperti malaria, beri-beri, disentri, dan tuberkulosis. Lokasinya yang strategik di laluan Gemas–Seremban menjadikannya pusat logistik perubatan yang penting.
Ia memainkan peranan kritikal dalam evakuasi pesakit dari kawasan hutan, menggunakan ambulans, lori, dan kadang-kadang gajah terlatih, bagi memastikan kesihatan tentera dan awam terjaga di tengah konflik komunis. Dalam keadaan sumber yang terhad, Hospital Tampin turut memainkan peranan sebagai pusat transit bagi bekalan dan pesakit, termasuk menyokong penggunaan inovasi baharu seperti Neil Robertson stretcher untuk pengusungan di hutan tebal, penghantaran bekalan melalui air drop, serta penggunaan Penicillin Transfusion Chest yang membolehkan terapi antibiotik dan transfusi dilakukan segera di lapangan. Proses ini sering mengambil masa berhari-hari, malah ada yang melebihi dua minggu untuk membawa keluar pesakit dari hutan. Bagi melicinkan operasi, komunikasi radio tanpa wayar digunakan untuk menyelaras pemindahan antara unit medan dengan hospital daerah.
Selain itu, Hospital Tampin menyokong operasi pasukan pembedahan bergerak (surgical teams) yang lengkap dengan pakar bedah dan pakar bius bagi menghadapi situasi korban besar, manakala sistem evakuasi perubatan pula disusun secara bertingkat, daripada Regimental Aid Post (R.A.P.) ke Casualty Collecting Post (C.C.P.), kemudian Advanced Dressing Station (A.D.S.), sebelum akhirnya sampai ke hospital daerah seperti Tampin. Setiap kali menerima pesakit tentera, pihak hospital diwajibkan segera memaklumkan kepada pasukan keselamatan bagi mengatur rawatan susulan atau pemindahan ke hospital tentera utama seperti di Seremban atau Kuala Lumpur.
Memasuki 1990-an, selaras dengan gagasan Wawasan 2020, hospital menambah kapasiti wad, memperbesar unit bersalin, dan memperkenalkan perkhidmatan pakar lawatan dari Seremban. Ia menjadi simbol komitmen kerajaan dalam membawa pembangunan kesihatan ke daerah pedalaman.
B. Sumber Manusia Hospital Tampin: Dari Era Kolonial ke Abad Ke-21
Perjalanan sejarah Hospital Tampin sejak akhir abad ke-19 bukan sahaja tertumpu pada perkembangan fizikal dan fasiliti, tetapi juga kepada aspek sumber manusia yang menjadi nadi kepada operasi hospital. Evolusi tenaga kerja ini memperlihatkan bagaimana struktur perubatan kolonial berkembang ke arah sistem kesihatan moden Malaysia hari ini.
Era Kolonial (1890-an – 1940-an)
Pada peringkat awal, Hospital Tampin beroperasi dengan kapasiti kecil dan bergantung kepada tenaga kerja asas seperti dresser (pembantu perubatan) dan apoteker, selain beberapa kakitangan sokongan termasuk tukang kebun, tukang masak, dan pembekal makanan. Pegawai perubatan Eropah atau doktor kolonial hanya hadir secara lawatan atau ditempatkan secara bergilir, kerana jumlah mereka sangat terhad di Negeri Sembilan.
Sehingga 1910-an, hospital ini masih berfungsi dalam bentuk wad kecil dengan jururawat sementara dan pembantu luar yang dilatih secara asas. Peranan sumber manusia pada masa ini lebih kepada memastikan rawatan kecemasan, merawat penyakit tropika, dan mengurus pesakit buruh lombong serta pekerja ladang.
Menjelang 1920-an, apabila Hospital Tampin diiktiraf secara rasmi sebagai hospital daerah dengan bangunan kekal dan kapasiti 85 katil, tenaga manusia turut diperluas. Pegawai perubatan tetap mula dilantik, disokong oleh jururawat terlatih, pembantu hospital, dan staf pentadbiran. Walau bagaimanapun, jawatan kanan masih dikuasai oleh pegawai kolonial, manakala penduduk tempatan lebih banyak mengisi jawatan sokongan.
Era Pra-Merdeka (1950-an)
Pada dekad 1950-an, sumber manusia hospital berkembang selaras dengan dasar kesihatan kolonial yang menekankan pengukuhan perkhidmatan daerah. Hospital Tampin mula menempatkan lebih ramai jururawat dan bidan tempatan, di samping tenaga sokongan bagi program kesihatan awam seperti kawalan malaria, vaksinasi cacar, dan rawatan tuberkulosis.
Pembinaan kuarters institusi turut meningkatkan kebajikan staf, membolehkan hospital mengekalkan tenaga kerja lebih stabil. Walaupun pakar Eropah masih memegang jawatan penting, tenaga tempatan semakin diberi ruang dalam perkhidmatan perubatan.
Era Pasca-Merdeka (1960-an – 1970-an)
Selepas merdeka, berlaku peralihan besar dalam pengisian jawatan di Hospital Tampin. Doktor, jururawat, dan pembantu perubatan tempatan mula mengambil alih peranan utama, selaras dengan usaha kerajaan membina sistem kesihatan nasional.
Pada 1960-an, hospital ini berfungsi sebagai pusat rujukan daerah bagi program kesihatan awam, sekali gus memerlukan kakitangan tambahan untuk melaksanakan kempen vaksinasi, kawalan penyakit berjangkit, serta rawatan penyakit kelamin.
Memasuki 1970-an, Dasar Ekonomi Baru mendorong pembesaran fasiliti hospital dan pengambilan lebih ramai kakitangan. Wad bersalin baharu, latihan paramedik, serta kursus jururawat tempatan diperkenalkan bagi memperkukuh perkhidmatan. Pada masa inilah, laporan tahunan hospital mula diterbitkan, menandakan wujudnya struktur pentadbiran sumber manusia yang lebih sistematik.
Era Pemodenan (1980-an – 1990-an)
Dalam fasa pemodenan sistem kesihatan negara, Hospital Tampin mula menempatkan tenaga manusia dalam bidang lebih khusus. Kehadiran pegawai perubatan tetap, jururawat profesional, serta kakitangan sokongan membolehkan hospital ini mengendalikan perkhidmatan pediatrik, obstetrik dan ginekologi, serta perubatan umum dengan lebih berkesan.
Pertambahan makmal, unit radiologi, dan bilik bedah kecil menuntut pengambilan juruteknologi makmal, jururadiografi, serta penolong pegawai perubatan, menjadikan tenaga kerja hospital semakin pelbagai.
Era Hospital Baharu (2000-an – 2010-an)
Pembinaan Hospital Tampin baharu (2007–2014) di Jalan Haji Ahmad Zainuddin membuka lembaran baharu dalam aspek sumber manusia. Kompleks moden dua tingkat ini dengan kapasiti 108 katil memerlukan struktur tenaga kerja lebih teratur, meliputi doktor, jururawat, paramedik, staf farmasi, pegawai rekod perubatan, serta tenaga teknikal ICT.
Pengenalan sistem maklumat hospital berasaskan ICT pada 2000-an turut melahirkan keperluan staf berkemahiran teknologi bagi menyokong transformasi digital hospital. Klinik pakar lawatan yang diperkenalkan secara tetap juga meningkatkan interaksi staf hospital dengan pakar dari Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban.
Era Globalisasi Kesihatan (2020-an)
Pandemik COVID-19 menjadi ujian besar terhadap keupayaan sumber manusia di Hospital Tampin. Kakitangan perubatan bukan sahaja terlibat dalam rawatan kes, tetapi juga mengendalikan pusat vaksinasi komuniti (PPV), pusat saringan massal, dan pelaksanaan telekonsultasi serta e-Pharmacy.
Pasca pandemik, tenaga manusia hospital beralih fokus kepada penyakit tidak berjangkit dan kesihatan mental, memerlukan latihan tambahan dalam kaunseling, psikologi klinikal, dan sokongan komuniti. Selaras dengan dasar Hospital Hijau, staf turut dilatih dalam pengurusan sisa mesra alam, penggunaan tenaga cekap, serta mewujudkan suasana rawatan berkonsepkan healing environment.
1. Kes Rompakan dan Rawatan di Hospital Tampin (1917)
Pada tahun 1917, satu kes rompakan dilaporkan berhampiran jalan Tampin. Mangsa yang cedera akibat kejadian tersebut telah dibawa ke Hospital Tampin untuk mendapatkan rawatan perubatan. Walau bagaimanapun, tiada maklumat lanjut mengenai identiti mangsa atau hasil rawatan yang diterima.
2. Kelahiran dan Rawatan Kemalangan Kereta Api (1921)
Pada tahun 1921, Hospital Tampin mencatatkan kelahiran bayi di hospital tersebut. Selain itu, pesakit yang cedera akibat kemalangan kereta api juga dirawat di hospital ini. Maklumat lanjut mengenai bilangan mangsa atau keadaan mereka selepas rawatan tidak tersedia dalam sumber yang ada.
3. Serangan Harimau di Gemencheh (1936)
Pada tahun 1936, satu peristiwa yang dikenali sebagai "A Tampin Tiger" berlaku, di mana empat orang mangsa diserang oleh harimau di kawasan Gemencheh. Disember 2018: Ancaman bom palsu diterima di Hospital Tampin; 90 pesakit dan 189 kakitangan dipindahkan sementara waktu.
Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah (PKD) Tampin merupakan pusat pentadbiran utama yang menggerakkan perkhidmatan kesihatan awam di daerah Tampin, Negeri Sembilan. Fungsinya meliputi perancangan, pelaksanaan, dan pemantauan aktiviti kesihatan komuniti, termasuk kawalan penyakit berjangkit, promosi kesihatan, keselamatan makanan, kesihatan persekitaran, kesihatan ibu dan anak, serta penguatkuasaan undang-undang berkaitan kesihatan awam.
PKD Tampin juga menyelaras rangkaian klinik kesihatan dan klinik desa di seluruh daerah, sekali gus memastikan penduduk bandar dan luar bandar mendapat akses kepada perkhidmatan primer yang menyeluruh. Dengan kedudukan strategiknya yang bersempadan dengan Melaka dan Johor, PKD Tampin turut memainkan peranan penting dalam menangani isu kesihatan rentas negeri, khususnya dalam kawalan penyakit endemik seperti denggi, malaria, dan tuberkulosis. Selain itu, PKD ini menjadi barisan hadapan dalam kesiapsiagaan menghadapi bencana kesihatan, termasuk pengurusan wabak COVID-19, serta memberi sokongan teknikal dan logistik kepada hospital daerah. Secara keseluruhannya, PKD Tampin berfungsi sebagai nadi kesihatan awam yang memastikan kesejahteraan masyarakat sentiasa terjamin.
Dari sudut sejarah, asal-usul PKD Tampin boleh ditelusuri sejak era kolonial British pada penghujung abad ke-19, apabila Hospital Tampin ditubuhkan sekitar 1890-an untuk memberi rawatan asas kepada masyarakat setempat. Pada ketika itu, pentadbiran kesihatan berada di bawah kawalan Sanitary Board Negeri Sembilan yang menumpukan kepada kebersihan bandar, kawalan penyakit berjangkit, serta rawatan asas pesakit dalam di hospital kecil daerah. Seiring dengan pertambahan penduduk dan perkembangan pentadbiran, khususnya selepas terbentuknya Daerah Tampin pada 1930-an, keperluan kepada sebuah entiti kesihatan yang lebih sistematik semakin mendesak.
Selepas Perang Dunia Kedua dan penubuhan Persekutuan Tanah Melayu pada 1948, struktur kesihatan awam mengalami perubahan besar. Fungsi di Tampin turut diperluas, bukan sahaja dalam rawatan hospital, tetapi juga kepada kesihatan masyarakat melalui program imunisasi, penjagaan kesihatan ibu dan anak, serta pencegahan penyakit bawaan air dan makanan. Pada dekad 1960-an dan 1970-an, PKD Tampin mula berfungsi dengan lebih tersusun, selaras dengan dasar Primary Health Care Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia. Ketika itu, PKD mengurus rangkaian klinik kesihatan desa, klinik ibu dan anak, serta unit kesihatan persekitaran yang meliputi kawasan pedalaman seperti Gemencheh, Air Kuning Selatan, dan Repah.
Menjelang era 1980-an dan 1990-an, PKD Tampin diperkukuh lagi dengan penubuhan unit epidemiologi, kawalan penyakit berjangkit, keselamatan makanan, serta kesihatan pekerjaan bagi menyokong pembangunan pesat daerah. Transformasi ini berterusan sehingga ke era moden, di mana PKD menjadi agensi penting dalam kesiapsiagaan bencana kesihatan, termasuk menangani wabak denggi, H1N1, dan COVID-19. Hari ini, PKD Tampin bukan sahaja bertindak sebagai penyelaras kepada Hospital Tampin dan jaringan klinik kesihatan, tetapi juga sebagai tonggak utama dalam menjamin kesejahteraan kesihatan lebih 80,000 penduduk yang tinggal di kawasan bandar, luar bandar, dan sempadan Negeri Sembilan–Melaka–Johor.
Dari segi fasiliti, PKD Tampin menyelia rangkaian yang meliputi Hospital Tampin sebagai pusat rujukan utama, beberapa klinik kesihatan besar seperti Klinik Kesihatan Tampin, Gemencheh, Air Kuning Selatan, Repah, Keru, Gemas, serta Tebong, di samping lebih sepuluh klinik desa yang berfungsi menyediakan perkhidmatan asas dan imunisasi di pedalaman. Antara klinik desa tersebut termasuklah KD Batang Melaka, Bukit Rokan, Ayer Gelugor, Sungai Kelamah, Pasir Besar, Gedok, Londah, Tenang, dan Kampung Baru Gemas. PKD ini turut dilengkapi dengan unit khusus seperti Unit Kawalan Penyakit (CDC), Unit Kesihatan Persekitaran, Unit Farmasi dan Bekalan, serta Unit Pergigian, yang memastikan kelangsungan fungsi kesihatan awam berjalan secara menyeluruh.
Secara ringkas, PKD Tampin merupakan kesinambungan daripada warisan kesihatan era kolonial kepada sebuah organisasi moden yang bersepadu. Dengan rangkaian fasiliti, unit khusus, dan sejarah panjang perkhidmatan, ia terus menjadi pusat rujukan utama yang memastikan taraf kesihatan masyarakat daerah Tampin sentiasa terpelihara.

Secara keseluruhannya, perjalanan Hospital Tampin selama lebih satu abad merupakan cerminan kepada evolusi sistem kesihatan Malaysia itu sendiri. Bermula sebagai sebuah hospital kolonial kecil dengan kapasiti terhad, ia kini berubah menjadi sebuah hospital daerah moden bersepadu, lengkap dengan elemen digital, mesra komuniti, dan berperanan sebagai pusat kesihatan utama di sempadan Negeri Sembilan–Melaka.
Sejarahnya sarat dengan pelbagai cabaran — daripada era perang dan darurat, pembangunan luar bandar, proses pemodenan pasca merdeka, hinggalah kepada ujian besar pandemik global — namun Hospital Tampin dan Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Tampin tetap teguh berfungsi sebagai nadi kesihatan masyarakat luar bandar.
Walaupun kedudukannya yang strategik memberikan kelebihan logistik, realiti kapasiti, infrastruktur, sumber manusia, dan dasar pentadbiran telah menetapkan statusnya kekal sebagai sebuah hospital daerah. Namun begitu, nilai dan peranannya tidak pernah berkurang; malah, Hospital Tampin terus menjadi saksi hidup kepada transformasi kesihatan negara, dari zaman kolonial hingga ke era globalisasi.
